SHANTINIKETAN TRIP
Students and teachers of Birla High School Mukundapur were on an excursion to Shantiniketan from January 2nd to 4th 2020. 11 teachers and 33 students visited the Visva Bharati Complex, and the Uttarayan Complex. They also went to see the Massanjore Dam. Their itinerary included a visit to a primary school for tribal children, Sabuj Path Mukto Vidyalaya at Ramnagar near Shantinikaten. The school has 45 students and is run by Mr. Subroto Sarkar . The students of both the schools interacted and sang songs such as ‘ Aguner porosh moni...’ , ‘Bishyo pita tumi he probhu...’ together. Blankets and chocolates brought as gifts for the tribal children were handed over by the students of Birla High School Mukundapur. It was a fantastic learning experience for the city bred students who were impressed by the discipline displayed by their tribal counterparts.

The students of Nursery, KG and Class I had their share of class picnic in the campus itself on 13th December . The students enjoyed the fun-filled games and the mouth watering food. They went home very happy.

Students of Classes IV and V were taken to Kidderpore dockyard to see the warship INS Kirpan anchored there. Students were given an entire tour of the arms and ammunitions installed in the warship which enthralled the students. They were overjoyed to see the warship.

SPELLYMPIC 2019, is the maiden Inter-school event hosted by Birla High School-Mukundapur on 6th December 2019. It is a spelling and word building contest. 19 eminent schools from the city participated in this event. A written preliminary round was conducted by the moderator, Mr. Raju Raman, an eminent debater and quiz master. 10 schools were shortlisted in the final on stage round. There were 5 rounds of oral spellings, unscramble, synonyms, antonym, homophones, matching the images to form correct proverbs and the last was an online round of scrabble. Sushila Birla Girls' School bagged the Winner's Trophy, gold medals for each participant and a volley of prizes including a kindle each for the participants. The Runner-up trophy was lifted by Mahadevi Birla World Academy who also got silver medals for each of their participants along with other prizes. All 19 participants got a gift hamper each.
